Guidebooks often sound dull. This one, subtitled 33 Easy Walks Through the Region's Amazing Natural Areas, is a hoot. Get out of the car - you are at the Nisqually, you are near the Yaquina. you can find the Laser Cave, you ever been to Steptoe Butte or the Palouse Falls.  That is this guidebook. I have always been jealous of the brilliant work the New Zealanders do to keep their citizens close to nature - this is a small step to getting the Northwest into a much more natural state of mind. Lovely color, easy going, a fine book.
