Wood is the material that Bernardo Bader works most with, less out of whim than by imposition of the secluded area at the foot of the Austrian Alps where his life and his practice are based. With it he creates warm enclosures that both hark back to a vernacular heritage and speak of a community spirit, and in this confluence between craftsmanship and construction lie the five works featured by Arquitectura Viva.

For its part, the issue’s dossier presents three museums that have recently opened their doors within historical buildings: the new Fondation Cartier that Ateliers Jean Nouvel has inserted into the heart of Paris, the Fenix Museum that MAD Architects has fitted into warehouses in the port of Rotterdam, and the Siyadi Pearl Museum, with which Anne Holtrop gives a second life to a stately residence in Muharraq (Bahrein).

In the Art and Culture section, Fernando Castro visits the exhibition that compares Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock at Museo Thyssen, and Kosme de Barañano writes on the Robert Rauschenberg retrospective at Fondation Juan March. The usual news and reviews come with a commendation from Rafael Moneo for Crónicas de la crisis, two books that complete the series where Luis Fernández-Galiano chronicles goings-on in architecture and the world from 1976 to 2020.
