Terrazzo, the first exuberant architecture and design magazine after the brilliance of Italy's Memphis era. Sottsass, Rossi, du Pasquier, saving the world with color, humor, and intelligence.
No. 2, released in the spring of 1989, is exceptionally well-edited and features a wonderfully wide range of illustration and photography. Included, importantly, is "Glass", a series of exceptional works by Robert Mapplethorpe, who died just after this edition's release and to whom the following issue of Terrazzo would be dedicated.
Also, with the characteristic lightness of spring, a funny interview with Fran Lebowitz, "On Architects", conducted by Barbara Radice. It is completely unfindable online, intelligent, specific, and 100% true, much like magazine for which it was written.
Printed by Nava in full color, on oversized 9.5x13" paper.
